Branston Railway Bridge Repair

Either: Immediately restore two-way traffic to the Branston railway bridge on the B5018 and implement other measures to stop heavy vehicles crossing Or: Explore options to permanently repair the bridge and restore two-way traffic without delay, without entertaining any temporary solutions which only allow for one-way traffic

The rationale for this petition is to draw the Council's attention to the concerns of residents of Branston and make it absolutely clear that the residents will not accept temporary solutions involving one-way traffic. This is due to many concerns around traffic and dangerous driving in the area resulting from the temporary one-way traffic on the bridge. In peak times this traffic backs up to the A38 junction which causes heavy delays in journey times and makes it challenging for working parents to get children to school safely. The options floated by the Council through social media messages give an option for a temporary structure to allow one-way traffic and residents do not deem this to be an acceptable solution.
